A Passionate Life
I teach my children that what they choose to do with their lives should always reflect what they are good at and what gives them great pleasure. And if they have chosen wrong and are not extremely happy with what they do with their limited time, they owe it to themselves to reevaluate their choices and have the courage to put in the time, money and effort to make the changes needed. I have done too many mediocre jobs that gave me no pleasure or pride or passion the 8-9 hours out of my day I was at the job. Always concerned about earning more money, I did not take the time to reevaluate what it is I truly love to do. It was not until my late 30's that I took the time and opportunity to dive into art. For the past few years I have rekindled the passion and pride I had for my art in middle and high school. I have not earned money that exceeded my expenses, but I have been able to say that I have my own business (watercolor artist and fine art printer). I am able to convert my talent and passion into income with the graphic and web design I am doing and learning about now. I feel it is wonderful I can set an example to my kids that illustrates what I have told them!
Check out some of my favorite pieces I've done the last couple of years as resident artist at The Cotton Company:
Cappuccino
The Feather King
Forest for the Trees
Pipes
Winter Mooring
